Our emergency plumber attended a large public housing property on the Melbourne suburb of Burwood with a report being that the property was being flooded with sewage. The following are the job notes from our attendance on these made job notes may assist you in a similar plumbing emergency.
SEWAGE FLOOD - AFTER HOURS
Attended property after hours on 03/11/15 to investigate report of a sewer overflow.
FINDINGS/ACTIONS -Accessed property and found sewage overflow into underground car park -Found sewage was beginning to fill lift shafts -Found sewer main to be completely blocked and unable to clear -Called Yarra Valley Water to attend and clear blockage -Cleared boundary shaft and began pumping out lift shaft -Removed reflux valves which were stuck in the open position -Cleaned and re-instated valves - all okay, working well -Took notes for recommendation -Packed up and left site clear
RECOMMENDATION 1. CCTV inspection of boundary shaft to check condition and cause of blockage. 2. Servicing of reflux valves. 3. Installation of sump pumps in each lift shaft.
